• Mastering Adhesives & Stabilizers: Understand the correct application of fusible web adhesives. Learn how to secure intricate fabric pieces permanently without stiffening the drape of the quilt.

• Raw-Edge Machine Appliqué: Execute clean, precise raw-edge machine work without the bulk or hassle of turning under seam allowances.

• Thread Play & Topstitching: Compare and contrast different quilt-top stitching options—such as free-motion quilting versus straight-stitch outlining—to add texture and effectively define the skeleton's bone structure.

Class Objectives

• Building the foundational skills you need to construct an appliqué quilt.

• Learning how to layer fabrics to create complex and dynamic designs.

• Construct and finalize the skeleton’s tutu. This is the most complex, collage-heavy portion of the project and requires the most hands-on guidance.

• Time permitting, students will assemble the skeleton in class. Otherwise, you will leave with a secured foundation and clear, step-by-step instructions to finish the skeleton at home.

• Scissors (one pair paper, one pair fabric, one small pair to cut pieces out)
